THE TROUBLESHOOTER REVIEWED -

Favorite Hannibal Jones - So Far

I loved this Hannibal Jones story. If Austin Camacho ever decides to give up writing, he should set up his easel. The descriptions of the people and places are amazingly vivid.

"Duck and Cover" - August 8, 2007

This was a great summer read which I finished all too soon in one weekend. At heart, this is a good story with interesting characters and little need to suspend disbelief. Camacho writes smoothly and paces the story well. The characters are interesting and not predictable, which is always a plus. He also writes great fight scenes. I'll recommend this to anyone looking for an action story set in the real world of Washington DC.

I just read your book, The Troubleshooter and I must say it was a most enjoyable book to read. It was the first time in a long time that I have read a book straight through cover to cover. I like how the setting took place in the DC area. It enabled me to envision where the action took place. This is a good series and I look forward to reading additional books with Hannibal Jones. He is a character I think I can get into. I like how his mind changed about his job. How it transformed from a job to responsibility. It was refreshing to encounter a character with a sense of honor and responsibility. Keep'em coming.

I just finished reading the Troubleshooter. It was a great story - since I went to business school in DC and worked there for 20 years, I knew the exact places in the book where the story takes place. It was very interesting to see how Jones was able to outsmart the drug dealers and how the entire community stands behind each other. I can't wait to read Austin Camacho's other books. It gives readers outside of the Capitol of the U.S. a look at real life. Mr. Camacho's writing style was very easy to stay with and the entire story was so interesting you kept wanting to read but really didn't want it to end.

I read all three books as quickly as possible and am eagerly awaiting the next installment in the adventures of Hannibal! Your books are wonderful and you were certainly correct (I said I liked Robert Parker's Spenser novels and you said I'd like yours) - I LOVE your books! Thank you.

Like the others in this series, this very enjoyable novel features tight writing, plenty of action, and intriguing characters. Hannibal is fast becoming an old friend that this reader regularly looks forward to every time a new novel is released. This author and his three mystery novels to date are well worth the read and worthy of a place on your bookshelf. Reviewed by: Kevin Tipple, Readers Room

"Tom Clancy move over because these novels are better hands down."
I've finally had enough time to read all three of your novels. It was hard for me to put them down once I started reading. Very well written and they capture your interest from the start. This would make a great TV Series or movies. I can't wait until your next one comes out. Keep them coming. More, more, more, more!!!!! I need more Hannibal!!!! Jody Malinich, Maryland

After first meeting Hannibal Jones in Blood and Bone, I wondered what made him tick. In Collateral Damage, I wondered about his unlikely friendships with Ray Santiago, Sarge, Quaker and the powerful Mother Washington. The prequel -- the Troubleshooter --puts it all in perspective. In the process of helping us better understand Hannibal Jones and these amazing friendships, Camacho, once again, weaves a great tale. Here we see Jones, the new entrepreneur, in his early days as a professional PI/troubleshooter/problem solver-for-hire. His first case takes us through a circuitous path of poverty, crime, intrigue and adventure. And as Jones navigates an accurately presented Washington, D.C. area, we have a chance to explore his generous heart, stubborn bravado, and genuine human foibles. Readers will want to be sure to set aside time for a cover-to-cover read. And then we'll wait, somewhat patiently, for the next Hannibal Jones adventure. Barbara Goodno, Washington, D.C.

Austin Camacho has given his readers yet another exciting book. The Troubleshooter is fast paced, action packed and exciting while providing wonderful lessons on treating people with respect. Sandy Fulton from Houston, TX

Austin Camacho, the author of this tale of derring-do, unfolds the story line at the pace of an action movie. He also uses cinematic tricks to establish characters quickly. John Goodspeed, Book critic - The Star Democrat
